Buying a Home In Arlington and Fort Caroline
Located along the south bank of the St. Johns River to the east of downtown is Arlington. Rich in historical significance, it was one of the first areas in the U.S. visited by Europeans and contains the site of the 16th century French fort known as Fort Caroline, now marked by the Fort Caroline National Memorial. The area saw sizeable residential growth in the later part of the 20th century, though it remains one of Northeast Florida's best areas for outdoor recreation. Arlington boasts the 46,000-acre Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve, the Tree Hill Nature Center, the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens, as well as biking and hiking trails. The area is also home to Jacksonville University.
