Jacksonville's Westside is an expansive area in western Duval County with both populated areas and vast tracts of undeveloped wooded land. The Westside contains numerous communities including Argyle, Riverside and Avondale, Ortega, Cedar Hills, Lake Shore, Murray Hill, Normandy, Sweetwater and Confederate Point. The Westside's populated land boasts both residential and commercial areas, and residents enjoy easy access to restaurants, shops, schools, hospitals and outdoor activities including hiking, hunting, fishing and boating. Dating back to the late 18th century, the Westside features waterfront mansions, Tudor-style homes, and wooden-frame bungalow-style houses dating back to the early 1900s. Westside is also home to Edward Waters College, Florida's oldest historically black college.
