Eastside is a small historic area nestled east of downtown Jacksonville along the St. Johns River. Although it's not actually positioned on the geographical east side of Jacksonville, but rather the east side of downtown, the area is compact and close knit. Originally developed after the Civil War, the Eastside has recently been the center of several urban renewal projects. The community boasts residential homes as well as several industries. Most notably positioned in the Eastside are several of Jacksonville's sports and event venues, including EverBank Field (home of the Jacksonville Jaguars), Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, and Metropolitan Park.
